cARE PROJECT COmmunity COnsultation

Learnmount Community Development Group (LCDG) is lead partner, along with Dennett Interchange Ltd, Glenelly Development Trust Ltd, Artigarvan Community Response and Brighter Ballymagorry Development Group in the CARE Project (Collective Approach to Rural Exclusion). This four-year project, which started in March 2022, is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. The project enables the partners to work jointly to deliver a health and well-being project for the over 50+ age group (originally 55+) in the Sperrin District Electoral rural Area. Local people are encouraged to participate in a wide range of opportunities to help them to stay active and connect with their community. The CARE Project offers three different tiers of activities around the Take 5 steps to well-being i.e.

1. Tier 1 – this is quite a light touch approach in terms of community engagement and targets those older people who are reluctant to commit to longer term community activities due to a variety of reasons including confidence, fear of being overwhelmed, health concerns, etc.

2. Tier 2 – this is targeted towards those people aged 50+ who are still quite active and wish to become more engaged in community life, creating a vibrant community in which they can thrive both physically and mentally.

3. Tier 3 – more intensive services for those who are more vulnerable.
